Types of Counseling
Individual Counseling is a one-on-one, non-judgmental and confidential Counseling in all areas. The client is helped to explore issues and gain insights into the roots/cause of their problems. This is done in an atmosphere of love and acceptance.
Adolescents are passing through a special, significant, and a serious time of life. Understanding the salient facts of adolescent psychology is extremely important. This Counseling will help teen-agers develop self-control. Through much discussion and quiet reasoning, a young person can learn the value of regulation. The teen can accept the fact that with adulthood freedom comes adult responsibility.
The sessions will help the individuals see beyond their immediate lives together. Questionnaires will be worked out as individuals and together and areas such as; expectations, finances, hobbies, sex, extended families, communication, conflicts, raising children, profession, spirituality, etc.. will be explored.
The family is an important unit and we aspire after the Counseling that families will be knit together in the Love of God. The Centre will help bring in the strengths and weaknesses of the spouses to enhance, build, better and strive towards a lasting relationship.
The later adulthood brings in a lot of problems and challenges. This needs to be addressed with much love, acceptance and understanding. The elderly need to find a place in the system and help cope with aging. At the Counseling Centre, the elderly will be helped to deal with depression and they will feel important and wanted.
Life has a share of joy and sorrow, but for some it is hard to cope with grief, whether it is a loss of a loved one, or a loss in business or loss due to a broken relationship. The Centre is equipped to guide and provide mental, emotional and spiritual support to cope in this situation.

Duration of Session:
Each session could last for 45 to 60 minutes. The number of Counseling Sessions offered will vary according to need and is negotiated with the client. It is often usual to contract to meet for an agreed number of sessions, on a weekly basis. With some clients, one session will be sufficient to resolve the problem and with others the counseling relationship can last longer. Occasionally because of acute distress, suicidal tendencies or a need to make critical decisions, more frequent sessions are indicated.
Telephone counseling service can also be provided since this maintains anonymity, privacy and confidentiality, besides being economical and accessible.
Pastor Sheba Thangiah
After being in ministry for over 30 years, I realized that I was carrying a desire deep within me for families, especially in the area of counseling. Today as I meet with people experiencing different challenges, I reach out to them with a greater sense of love and compassion. As I see love and forgiveness demonstrated in individuals and families, giving way to repentance and reconciliation, it gives me great joy to know that we are indeed serving a living God who’s specialty is in transformation.
