Funeral Ministry
Facing the loss of a loved one is an incredibly painful experience, emphasizing the essential role of the church in offering support and strength.
Our Funeral Ministry serves as a pillar of comfort during times of grieving, actively engaging through house visits and prayer. The team also plays a vital role in assisting with funeral arrangements, extending the love of Jesus to family members navigating the challenging path of loss.
In acknowledgment of the multifaceted challenges that arise during bereavement, the Funeral Team within this ministry becomes a steadfast source of support. Beyond offering condolences, they step in to alleviate logistical burdens, ensuring that the love and compassion of the church accompany grieving families every step of the way.
The Funeral Ministry Process:
Notification to Zonal Pastor/Leader: Upon the passing of a church member, the Zonal Pastor or Leader of the corresponding area/zone is informed, initiating the involvement of the Funeral Ministry Team.
Prompt Visit and Condolences: Funeral team members swiftly visit the grieving family, extending sincere condolences, providing comfort, and engaging in heartfelt prayers. This immediate response envelops the family in love during this challenging time.
Details Gathering with Compassion: With utmost compassion, the team collects essential details about the departed individual, such as name, age, circumstances of passing, and requests a photo. This is done with a profound understanding of the significance of preserving and honoring the memory of their loved one.
Information Sharing and Unity: Upon receiving the death certificate and verifying details, Rev. Paul Thangiah is informed. These details are then shared in the Funeral Team's WhatsApp group, fostering a unified and supportive approach in honoring the departed soul.
Burial Ground Preparation: Guided by love and compassion, the team proceeds to the burial ground, preparing the final resting place. In cases of financial constraints, Rev. Paul Thangiah provides assistance with a basic coffin and hearse, ensuring dignity and compassion in the final farewell.
Home Visit and Support on Funeral Day: On the funeral day, team members visit the home of the departed individual, lifting their voices in heartfelt songs and prayers. They accompany the hearse to the church or burial ground, offering sincere support to the grieving family throughout the challenging journey.
Funeral Service Assistance: Should the hearse arrive at the church, team members provide assistance with the funeral service. Their unwavering presence extends throughout the burial service, offering continuous support and comfort to the grieving family.
Ongoing Connection and Memorial Service: Team members maintain a compassionate connection with the grieving family, actively visiting and participating in the Memorial/Thanksgiving Service to provide ongoing support during this challenging period.
Holiday Season Support: During times when the family misses their loved ones the most, like the Christmas season, team members reach out, offering comfort and support. They organize prayer gatherings with families in their respective zones, praying with them and sharing the love of Christ for encouragement.
